Universal Design, also known as Aging in Place Design, is a much broader concept than ADA compliance. The goal is to create an environment that is usable and accessible, to the greatest extent possible, by people of any age or ability without the need for a special design or adaptation.
In order be considered UD, your design must consider the space needed for approach, reach, manipulation and overall use regardless of the user’s body size, posture or mobility.
As such, Universal Design base, tall and vanity cabinets are designed with specific features including a toekick height of 5 1/2" and an overall height of 32 1/2" on base and vanity cabinets.
In addition, state and local codes may differ. Please confirm specifications with local code enforcement agencies prior to ordering. These items are special order and therefore non-returnable and non-refundable.
